Istikhara for marriage

Marriage is the most important stage in a person’s life. The choice of a spouse should be done very judiciously. If the husband and wife have harmony, they take care of each other’s physical inclinations, habits, likes and dislikes, then such a house is an example of Paradise, and Allah forbid, if it is the opposite, then it will be connected with punishment in this world. It is our misfortune that huge abuses and mistakes are seen in the decision of marriages by both parents and children. Parents usually choose unsuitable relationships to arrange marriages between relatives or for the sake of greed, which results in nothing but ruin. In the same way, children reject the facts and love marriageJessie becomes afflicted with the curse, which is a momentary and impulsive decision that ends up in a very gruesome situation after a short period of time. Istikhara is a powerful weapon to avoid all these miseries with negligible chances of failure. In view of the importance of marriage, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has specially ordered to perform Istikhara. Although the Prophet (PBUH) mentioned Istikhara in general, which includes marriage, but his special mention is a proof of its importance.

Istikhara in Ahadiths

On the authority of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Complete the sermon, then perform ablution, perform ablution well, then pray what God has ordained for you, then praise and glorify your Lord, then say: O God, you are capable and I am not able, and You know and I do not know, and You are the Knower of the Unseen. And, if you see me in so-and-so, (You call it by its name…) Good in my religion, this world and my Hereafter, so decree it for me. or he said, estimate it for me.”

Sayyidna Abu Ayyub Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, mentions the tradition of Istikhara for marriage, and says that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Then perform ablution in the best way, then pray what Allah has written for you, then pray.” Praise Allah the Most High.” Then say: O Allah, You are Able, and I am not Able, and You know, and I do not know, and You are the Knower of the Unseen. (Tasmiha Basmaha . . .) Good in my religion, world, and the hereafter, I am capable of it, and if it is good for me in my religion and the hereafter, I am capable of it. O Allah, You have power and I do not have power. You know and I do not know. And if you think about such and such a woman (name her), if she is better for me in terms of religion, world and my hereafter, then let her decide for me, and if someone other than her, my religion, If it is better in terms of this world and the hereafter, then decide for me or make it my destiny.” (1)

In the light of this hadith, it can also be said that parents can make istikhara when choosing a relationship for their children, whether to marry their daughter or son in that place or not. Allah Ta’ala will make a better decision for them.

In the light of the hadiths, we can say that one who asks Allah Almighty about marriage does not fail. Because if he sincerely asks Allah Ta’ala for improvement and goodness, then Allah Ta’ala never decides inappropriately for him. (2

Is there any special prayer for getting a good wife or a good husband?

Question: Is there any verse or prayer that we should read to find a good wife or husband in the future?

And what are the things that a person should focus on to know that this boy/girl or that boy/or girl will prove to be a suitable choice.

And can a person find the answer to this: Make the Holy Qur’an a source of guidance for your plans?

According to our knowledge, there is no proven and specific supplication from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for this matter, but you should pray to Allah on your own that Allah will provide you with a good wife.

While the Prophet (peace be upon him) has taught us all the supplication of Istikhara, which means: Let us beseech Allah to choose for us something better in terms of religion and world for all our religious and worldly affairs, and this It is narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him):

On the authority of Jaber, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, used to teach us istikharah in all matters, such as the surah From the Qur’an: “If he is about to command, let him bow two rak’ahs. Then he says:O Allah, I ask you to grant power through your knowledge, and I seek power over you through your ability, and I ask you of your great bounty, for you are able and I can’t, and you know and I don’t know, And You are the Knower of the unseen, O God, if You know that this matter is good for me in terms of my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affairs, or In my urgent matter, and its delayed Ordain it for me, even if You know that this matter is bad for me in terms of my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affairs. Ray, and his delay, So turn it away from me, and turn me away from it, and ordain for me what is good wherever it may be, then make me satisfied with it, and satisfy its need.”

Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to teach us Istikhara in all matters, as in the Surah of the Qur’an (the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said) When one of you intends to do something (permissible) (do not make up your mind yet). If it happened) then he should pray two rakats (nafl) after that he should pray like this: O Allah! I seek goodness (istikhara) from Your goodness, You are the Knower, I have no knowledge and You are the Knower of all hidden things, O Allah!

There is nothing more important than religion and morals for the attention of each of the parties.

Therefore, regarding the boy, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) advised the guardians of the girl:

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, he said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “If someone whose religion and character you accept addresses you, then Marry him, and if you do not, there will be discord in the land and widespread corruption.”

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When someone gives you the message of marriage, whose religion and morals you are satisfied with, then marry him.” If you do not do this, there will be temptation and great corruption in the land.” (4)

And regarding the girl, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “A woman is married for four things: his money A, and according to her And her beauty, and her religion, so be victorious with the same religion, may your hands be dusty.”

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “A woman is married on the basis of four things: her wealth, her family honor, and her beauty. and because of her religion and you succeed by marrying a pious woman, if you do not do this, then your hands will be covered with dirt.”

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him) says:

“This hadith means that this is what adorns a pious and pious person that his aim is piety in everything, especially in matters that stay with a person for a long time, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered the aspirants to find a pious girl, for piety is the real goal” (6)

Regarding seeking guidance through the Holy Qur’an mentioned in the second part of the question is:

If by this you mean fortune-telling, then this is a forbidden act, and one of the self-made methods of fortune-telling from the Holy Qur’an is to open the Holy Qur’an from anywhere; So if the eye falls on the verses of mercy or reward, it means that whatever a person wants to do, it is a good and right thing!! And if the matter is the opposite, then it will mean the opposite, it has no basis in religion, it is a baseless method, and it is a method of the devils to mislead the believing servants of Allah.

And if by taking guidance from the Holy Qur’an you mean to follow the Qur’an and to follow its orders, then in reality this is the happiness beyond which there is no happiness, and that is that of the Book and the Sunnah. This is the only way of following, and salvation with Allah on the Day of Judgment, and guidance for the creatures in this world.

“This is the Book, there is no doubt about it. It is a guidance for the righteous.” (2) (Al-Baqarah)

“There is no doubt in this book, (this book) is a (perfect) guidance for the pious.”

He also said:

“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most upright.” (Surah Al-Isra:9)

“Surely this Qur’an guides to that which is (solid and) strong.”

God knows. (7)

Breaking the engagement due to seeing a dream after Istikhara

Is it permissible to break the engagement after two years, because the fiance has had a bad dream after Istikhara?

In order to understand his affairs, a Muslim should deal with his reality and experiences with reason, wisdom and wisdom, and in this he should use the means that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has decreed, that is why the Islamic Sharia. It has been decided to judge people or actions after thinking carefully and using wisdom and experience.

Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says:

Thus does God make clear to you His verses that you may understand. (242) (Al-Baqara 5)

“In this way, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala explains His verses to you so that you may understand.”

In our Shariah, trusting dreams and dreams is not at all, neither in worldly matters nor in religious rulings, because the knowledge gained through dreams is neither certain nor controlled.

Rather, doubts are found in it, and it is not possible for the Shari’ah to ask people to turn to something that is illusory and not proven by the slightest knowledge.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, who said: “When the time draws near, the dream of a Muslim will not be denied. And the most truthful of you in vision is the most truthful of you in speech. A Muslim’s dream is one of the forty-fifth parts of prophecy, and dreams are of three types: a good dream, good tidings from God. And a vision of sadness from the devil, and a vision of what happens to one Himself, and if one of you sees something that he dislikes, then he should get up and pray, and not tell people about it.”

He said: I love a restriction, and I hate a string, and a restriction is steadfastness in religion, so I do not know whether it is in the hadith, or whether Ibn Serein.

On the authority of Sayyidina Abu Hurairah, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “When the time is equal (i.e. the day and night are equal or the Hour will be near) then the Muslim’s dream will not be a lie, and the most The true dream will belong to the one who is the truest Muslim in words, and the dream of a Muslim is one of the forty-five parts of prophethood, and there are three types of dreams: one is a good dream which is good news from Allah, the other is a dream of sorrow. which is from Satan, and thirdly, the dream which is the thought of your heart. Then when one of you sees a bad dream, stand up and pray and do not tell people about it.”

Ayyub says, “And I consider it good to see fetters in a dream, and bad to see a yoke on a flock.” I do not know whether this word is included in the hadith or Ibn Sirin’s word. (8)

Therefore, whatever a person sees in a dream, just as the soul has a part in it, so does Satan have a part in it, the importance of it cannot always be clear, so how can a Muslim be satisfied with what he sees in a dream. And then how can he choose it as a basis, even though he knows that there may be a lot of Satan’s part in it?!

This includes the issue of marriage. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, has set the attributes for us in this regard, on the basis of which a relationship can be accepted or rejected.

The Holy Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:

On the authority of Abu Hatim Al-Muzni, he said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “If someone comes to you whose religion and character you are pleased with, then Curse it, if you do not, there will be discord and corruption in the land.” They said: O Messenger of God, even if he is in him. He said: “If someone whose religion and character you are pleased with comes to you, then marry him” three times.

Abu Hatim Muzni (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When someone comes to you (with the message of marriage) whose religion and morals you are satisfied with, then marry him.” If you do not do this, there will be fitnah and mischief in the land.” People said: Messenger of Allah! If there is anything in it? He said this three times: “When a person comes to you whose religion and morals you are satisfied with, then marry him.” (9)

Therefore, in this hadith, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, has declared morals and religion as the criteria for people to accept or reject a relationship. Therefore, the dear sister who asks the question should refer to these attributes only, and in the dream. Do not pay attention to the matter seen, and do not accept it because it may be the part of Satan who wants to separate the husband and wife by creating differences between them.

The following question was discovered from Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen, may God have mercy on him, in “Al-Bab al-Maftuh”.

A person asked for a relationship with a woman, then this woman saw this person in a dream that his beard was shaved, should he accept or reject this relationship, in reality, this person has shaved his beard. And his appearance is also good, and he is committed to religion. We do not purify anyone by Allah.

The Sheikh’s reply was:

“A woman who saw her fiance in a dream with a shaved beard, and in reality this man has a beard, there is no harm or harm to that woman from what she saw in the dream, if that person is moral. And if he is a believer, then one should not refuse to marry him.” (10)

Then it is necessary to warn that Istikhara has nothing to do with the dream – as most people think that after Istikhara one should sleep and it is seen in a dream – because the purpose of Istikhara is the better of the two cases from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. Asking for good things is to ask, and asking for better things is intended.

Because Istikhara is a supplication, when Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala accepts it, then Allah makes it easy for the one who is doing Istikhara – after deliberation and meditation – whomever Allah chooses, and this supplication is near or far. It has nothing to do with dreams.

Therefore, the dear sister asking the question is advised to look into her own case, and not to spoil her marital relations just because of a dream, but rather she should use religion and reason in the case of her fiancee to make a suitable decision. Take a stand. (11)

Status of dream in Istikhara prayer

Question

A person sent a message for my relationship, so I did Istikhara and later I had a dream that the sister of the person who sent the wedding message dressed me in a green gown and said: Her fiancé brother, some gift besides beautiful things. No, I request that you tell me the interpretation of this dream so that I can use Istikhara prayer properly.

istikhara dua for marriage istikhara for marriage marriage istikhara praying istikhara for marriage pray istikhara for marriage dua istikhara for marriage how to pray istikhara

Here are some things to understand:

First:

You should find out the interpretation of the dream you have seen from a person who knows the interpretation, and is also trustworthy in terms of religion and belief, so that he can tell you its interpretation, and you should not be ignorant and ignorant. Magicians must be avoided.

Second:

Many people think that as a result of Istikhara, a dream must come during sleep and this is a condition, or a feeling of relief in the chest or some such sensation, although this is not the case, if any of these things. And the person has done istikhara and he has provided all possible means to find out the correct and most correct action, that is, he consulted and tried and found out from experienced people and then this action. If he has done it, then there is hope that it is better for him, even if initially his rate of Sadaqah was not fulfilled, but suppose that what he has done after Istikhara, even if his Tawfiq has not been granted, it can be done. There is good in it for him which he does not know, but his Lord knows this good.

Ibn al-Hajj Maliki says:

Some people perform Islamic Istikhara and then pause until they see a dream in which they see whether the person performing Istikhara is doing or not doing it, or someone else sees him in a dream, and this is nothing, because the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: Istikhara and consultation has been ruled, not what he saw in his dream. End (12)

Third:

If it is assumed that the interpretation of dreams indicates something good and good, then righteous and good dreams are not tidings, but they will not be trusted. It is necessary to try to examine the life of morality, and also find out what you want to know about it, and when you are sure of these things, then it is a good and good dream of the gospel. It will happen in the place, and this work will be considered as a good omen.

We pray to Allah Ta’ala to make it easy for you to achieve good things, and to bless you in it.
